I personally craft each piece with love for the medicine and the recipient. Each of my Kuripes is a one-of-a-kind creation! Please inquire about custom pieces if desired.
A Kuripe is a traditional Amazonian tool used for self-administration of Hapé . This small, hand-held instrument is hand crafted with intention and care from bamboo and is designed to efficiently deliver the snuff through the user's nostril. The Kuripe is often used during ceremonial journeys aimed at promoting clarity, focus, and connection with nature and indigenous plant medicine traditions.
How to use: If you are new to self administering Hapé, start with a small pea sized amount of medicine in the palm of your hand. Connect with the spirit of the medicine and with your intentions. Use the edge of your Kuripe to flatten out any lumps, then scoop half of the medicine from the palm of your hand into the long end of the pipe. The longer end is then placed in one nostril, and the short end is placed in the mouth. With intention and moderate force, use breath to push the medicine up (aim for the brain) into the nasal cavity. Repeat on the opposite nostril for completion and balance. Breathe through your mouth for a period of time while meditating, and once you feel that your process is complete, feel free to cleanse your nasal passages of any remaining medicine. It is best not to swallow any drainage that may appear in the back of your throat. Once confidence has been built with small amounts, the dose may be increased for more potent experiences. This pipe is an energetic tool and a conduit between yourself and the medicine. It is optimal to keep the energy clean and not to share your Kuripe with others unless it is a close relation or urgent situation requiring the medicine. If you do choose to share your Kuripe, be sure to cleanse it with agua de florida or a smudge of your choice before and after lending it to avoid energetic contamination.
